Within the cooperation between the festival 'Urbi & Orbi - Biennale de la photographie et de la ville' and Clervaux - cite de l'image, the Luxembourgian photographer Raoul Ries stayed in Sedan in spring 2021 as artist in residence.

The photo series created there is shaped directly from the project for sustainable planning and development from 2013. As main themes of his work, Raoul has chosen the specificity of the neighbourhoods and the urban density. For this purpose he roamed the entire territory of the municipality of Sedan. What is the visual identity of each particular district, the intermediate and adjacent areas? Where does the city centre become a suburb? Where does the residential district end, and where does the industrial and rural area begin?
